Question: Instax Share app and IOS 13

Anyone find a way to get the Instax Share printer app to work on IOS 13?

You can see and connect to the Instax printer SSID but fails when trying to print.

Seems like an IOS 13 issue since also Sony is having issues with SSID connecting app forcing you to use QR or NFC.

Question is why wasn't this tested or resolved during the IOS 13 beta days?

Forgot to mention that you need to restart your phone, so the steps are:

  • Delete Instax SHARE
  • Restart your phone
  • Download Instax SHARE
  • Open the app, select your printer model
  • (Accept notifications)
  • Go to "Real time template"
  • (Grant access to Location: Allow While Using the App)
  • (Grant access to Photos)
  • Take a pic and click "Connect and print"
  • (A dialog will popup asking you to connect to the printer wifi)
  • Go to WiFi settings, and connect to INSTAX-NNNN
  • Go back to the app
  • (A dialog will popup asking if you want to connect to printer INSTAX-NNNN, say yes!)
  • The printer should start printing, yay!

I got it to work by *granting Location Services access again.* This is my long winded way of getting this to work:

* Reinstall the app

* Start it, select your printer, and on the home screen click the "Real time template" (top left), this should prompt the app to ask you for permissions to use Location again

* I clicked on Allow When Using the App

Now you should be able to use the app normally, connect to the INSTAX-NNNN wifi that the printer creates, and try to connect to the printer, or print a pic.

(I didn't try to select "Prompt me again next time" option in the Location Services settings for Instax SHARE, it might be enough!)

Good luck!

I was wondering why this did not work—I literally just bought an SP-2 printer today, and no matter what I try, the app doesn't recognize that I'm connected to the printer.

I get stuck on the Searching for a printer... Turn on the Wi-Fi on your device, and choose the printer name from the "Choose a network..." list. screen. And I've done exactly that.

I thought it was a problem with the instax app. Maybe they need to make an update for the app in order to work with iOS 13? I contacted Fuji but didn't got an answer.

I got an email from Instax support, which sounds an awful lot like the stuff I posted above.

It doesn't seem they're working on a fix, just that they're aware of the issue (screenshot attached)

I spend an hour to trying to work it out without any luck

The order of actions and turning the device off (iPad for me) was 🔑

Will do the same for the iPhone
